Company brings university research to marketplace

David Novak started with a contract from the University of Dayton to commercialize research coming out of the university.

Now, he's involved in bringing new technology to Ohio from Sweden, starting the $28 million statewide tech initiative called IDCAST (Institute for Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technology) and finding investors for local companies such as Rookwood Pottery.

A technology transfer specialist and intellectual property attorney, Novak started a technology development firm called Inventis Group with three other partners in 2005. The West Chester-based company's objective is to spur economic development and create high-tech jobs in Ohio.
